anybody here been diagnosed with "Thought Disorder"
Are you taking medication for it? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thought_…
There are Thought Disorder symptoms that have peeked my interest...
things called Clanging
Stilted speech Neologisms Word approximations Phonemic paraphasia Semantic paraphasia
(all are best described under the first wikipedia link)
What would you do
if you realized
almost all of your artwork
was a glaring example
of your mental illness
and may need to be halted
for the sake of things
more important than your only cathartic form of communication?
What would you do if you (even for a minute) embraced the possibility that your creative outlet
or spiritual relief was not much more
farting out your illness in public
and it was NOT art AT ALL, but...
actually a problem
A problem you are urged to fix by someone who holds your future in their hands?
...friends, family, coworkers.
Of course the government isn't perfect and doctors are just as flawed as all other humans on earth,
but you're not the professional
with a long paper trail of degrees painted with tried and true methods for fixing the mentally ill,
You're also not the poor souls who have to put up with you.
I don't mean judgement placed upon the kind of art where
sour emotions of the hour
sad poetry being indicative of a depressive state... that's reasonable.
maybe violent images give the trained or UNtrained eye of a viewer the idea you might be dangerous under the right circumstances...
I'm talking about how you'd feel deep down
finding out that every thing you thought was CREATIVELY pretty cool about yourself
is on some medicinal chart or government list of things "wrong" with people who should seek long-term professional help.
What if you buy into this idea and go get yourself "fixed"
to a place where you end up incapable of doing art - or at best, not getting anything out of it
because your emotional and communicative parts of the brain have been "succesfully" disabled and rewired?
Who are you then
Fixed and Spot On acceptable?
or do youdo as ya will
and have " sadly misunderstood" spray painted on your gravestone by someone just as righteously insane as you were? www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktBMxk…
"...So-Often-Bled is a Dark Workshop that anchors itself
in filled-out and complex visuals-
Creations that stir silent and curious stories from
the imagination of viewers who must fight to
unravel the mystery.
We also support very strange humor
that stifles and twists the tickle;
makes one look hard and laugh without exactly getting it.
Now let's go and over-work someone's brain today!!
Most importantly, there is no blood in our violence,
as we are truly So Often Bled."
